MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to persist over Luzon, with a red rainfall alert issued over Ilocos Sur and Benguet, the state weather bureau said.
A red rainfall alert indicates heavy rainfall of over 200 millimeters with risks of severe flooding and landslides, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its 5 a.m. forecast, Pagasa also raised an orange rainfall warning, or 100 to 200 millimeters of rain in Metro Manila, La Union, Abra, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro.
