The ITV reality show hosted by Graham Norton’s has reportedly been 'axed' after one season12:50, 07 Aug 2026A contestant has shared the reality of appearing on a competitive show for ITV.‌It may seem glamorous to be on TV but a former contestant who appeared on ITV’s The Neighbourhood has revealed that the reality behind the cameras was far tougher than what viewers see.‌Alicia Bradon was one of six households who took part in Graham Norton’s ITV series, where contestants move into a village and compete in a high stakes popularity contest.‌The households were put through their paces with a series of tasks, all while trying to keep on the side of their neighbours and a chance to win a life-changing amount of money. The 28-year-old moved into one of the houses with her mum Faye-Marie, brothers Lucas and Nathan, and Nathan’s teenage son Zach.‌Speaking about their experience on ITV's now-cancelled reality series, she explained that one of the biggest surprises was just how long each challenge actually took to film. While audiences only saw a few minutes of the action on screen, contestants often spent hours completing a single task.Recalling one of the show's opening challenges, she took to TikTok and said: "The first challenge we did on the first day we got there - I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that we were up on that washing line for about four hours."‌The contestant described the conditions as particularly difficult, with the typical British weather making the challenge even more uncomfortable. She explained: "It was freezing. We had to have hand warmers when coming down, obviously we were getting electrocuted, the weather was typical English weather so it was not warm whatsoever and we were on little wooden things so your bum had gone numb."‌Despite the gruelling conditions, viewers only saw a fraction of what contestants endured. "You were up there for hours but you see like three minutes of it when you're watching it on TV," Alicia went on.The star added: "That is one thing for sure you don't realise - how long the challenges are. Sometimes we were out there for hours."The reality show is said to have been cancelled after one series following poor ratings. The show got off to a decent start when it aired in the middle of the I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here on April 24.Article continues belowBut ratings soon went into freefall, hitting a low of just 500,000 by the third instalment - which was not enough to keep it in the primetime 9pm slot.A source told the Mirror that there is no chance of it returning next year, saying: “It’s a real shame because we loved the concept and Graham as the host. But sadly the viewers didn’t feel the same way and the ratings have been disappointing. We won’t be making another series.”You can stream series one of The Neighbourhood on ITVX.
