DA MP and Police Portfolio Committee Chairperson Ian Cameron says he is confident his conduct will withstand scrutiny after State advocate Drushantha Ramsamy alleged before the Madlanga Commission that he supported efforts to remove suspended National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola.
Democratic Alliance MP Ian Cameron has rejected allegations that he knowingly participated in an alleged plot to remove suspended National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, saying he is comfortable with his conduct and that the evidence “will speak for itself”.
The allegations were made by State advocate Drushantha Ramsamy during her testimony before the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday.
Ramsamy claimed Cameron was among two complainants who were drawn into an effort to remove Masemola and Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo from office.
Ramsamy outlined how the former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) handled investigations into alleged corruption within Crime Intelligence, alleging the investigations departed from normal procedures.
