State Advocate Drushantha Ramsamy accused of using former IDAC boss, Andrea Johnson resources to fight the top officials in the Crime Intelligence Unit.

Former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head, Advocate Andrea Johnson, allegedly withheld details of corruption probes involving crime intelligence officers from Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola in a bid to get to lie under oath.

IDAC prosecutor Drushantha Ramsamy told the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday that Johnson instructed investigators not to inform Masemola about several investigations before his appearance before the Portfolio Committee on Police.

Ramsamy testified that Johnson wanted Masemola to appear before the committee without knowing about the investigations, raising the possibility that he could later be accused of misleading Parliament.

“Johnson said that the National Commissioner should not be informed of the investigation. She said the National Commissioner would appear at the Portfolio Committee on Policing soon and we should ‘let him lie’ at the Portfolio Committee,” Ramsamy said.
