South Africa - Pretoria - Madlanga- 30 July 2026. Adv Drushantha Ramsamy, a State Advocate with the Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), a unit of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

State Advocate Drushantha Ramsamy has alleged that Democratic Alliance MP Ian Cameron supported what she described as an effort to remove National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola and Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo from office.

Ramsamy made the allegations during her testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday as she outlined how the former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) handled investigations into alleged corruption within Crime Intelligence.

She told the commission that, in her view, the investigations did not follow the normal process, alleging that IDAC investigators actively sought out complainants instead of waiting for complaints to be lodged.

According to Ramsamy, IDAC investigator Dylan Perumal approached Cameron and ActionSA MP Dereleen James to become complainants in the investigations. She also alleged that Perumal provided them with top-secret Crime Intelligence documents.
