Jagiellonia Białystok took a 2-1 lead over Rangers FC at halftime of their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg on August 6, with Kajetan Szmyt scoring both goals for the Polish side at Chorten Arena.
The match itself
Rangers got off to the better start when Guilherme Montoia put through his own net in the 4th minute, handing the Scottish visitors an early advantage. That lead didn’t last long.
Szmyt, a 24-year-old midfielder who joined Jagiellonia from Zagłębie Lubin and is locked into a contract through June 2029, answered twice before the break. His brace flipped the tie on its head and gave the home crowd at Chorten Arena something to celebrate heading into the tunnel.
For Jagiellonia, a side that participated in the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League, the performance represents another step in their growing European ambitions.
