Aadi Pooram festival began at Andal Temple in Srivilliputtur with the temple flag hoisting on Thursday.Special pujas were performed to the presiding deities Andal and Lord Rengamannar. The flag was taken on procession on the Mada Streets. After an abhishekam to the flag mast, the flag was hoisted.The highlight of the festival would be the car pulling event on Pooram star of the Tamil month of Aadi that falls on August 14.Meanwhile, Collector N.
