PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — Subanen Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities in Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur received a boost with the turnover of a P3.7-million corn production enterprise facility and the construction of a farm-to-market (FMR) road.
Two of the six enterprise packages were turned over on Tuesday to the Peksalabken Subanen Dumingag Association (PSDA), including one hauling truck and agricultural inputs worth nearly P1.6 million. These initial resources are expected to jumpstart corn production and strengthen the Subanen community’s entry into marketing and consolidation.
The remaining components — such as a corn consolidation facility, tools and equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and office supplies — are set for delivery soon. Once completed, the enterprise package will enhance productivity, improve post-harvest handling, and expand market opportunities for the Subanen farmers.
