Trucks are known for being durable and fearless, able to haul heavy loads, work around the clock, and plow through punishing terrain. Millions of Americans buy them every year for exactly those reasons, whether for work or play, though in an era of considerably higher truck prices, many buyers also need their trucks to pull double duty as family transportation. Nearly 9 out of 10 pickups sold today are crew cabs, since moving people and their gear together leaves families with no real substitute. Regular cabs have become increasingly rare, and most midsize trucks now come only in crew configurations.
Full-size crew cabs run more than large enough to transport most families, though midsize trucks tend to carry smaller back seats by comparison. The entire truck market has matured considerably over the past couple of decades, and especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, to better cater to families overall. Where basic vinyl seats and simple radios once dominated the segment, even many entry-level trucks now offer comfort and convenience features that make them excellent choices for family travel.
