But his offensive production has become increasingly inconsistent. Injuries and prolonged struggles at the plate prevented him from recapturing the form that once made him appear to be a franchise player for the Rockies. A move to Chicago would remove Doyle from an organization that has other young players in his position, and place him with the White Sox, a team willing to bet on his ability to rediscover his old form. The trade nets the Rockies a solid pitcher in Adams, who sports a 3.86 ERA along with 48 strikeouts this season, and a distant prospect in Carlos Vielma. The 16 year old is currently hitting .337/.507/.474 in rookie ball, it will be a long time before he is close to being major league ready, but his current production suggests there is serious potential. For the White Sox, they get a player who is hoping to fix his problems at the plate, and for the Rockies, they cash in and receive a solid pitcher and a prospect that they can monitor the development of.
