TACLOBAN CITY – Eight rehabilitated native wild animals, including a Philippine hawk-eagle and Philippine parrot, were recently released into the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park (MVNP) in Burauen, Leyte, as part of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) efforts to conserve biodiversity and restore wildlife to their natural habitats.
According to DENR-8, the release was carried out through the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center (RWRC) of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Leyte in coordination with the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park Protected Area Management Office.
The animals released on July 29 included four Philippine wild ducks, one Philippine hawk-eagle, one Philippine parrot, and two black-chinned fruit doves.
