The two-day Valvil Ori festival at Kolli Hills in Namakkal district and the three-day Aadi Perukku festival at Hogenakkal in Dharmapuri district began on Sunday (August 2, 2026).Senthamangalam MLA P. Chandrasekar, along with Namakkal Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) V. Shanthi, inaugurated the Valvil Ori festival at Kolli Hills on Sunday by paying floral tributes to the Valvil Ori portrait and inaugurating a flower show at the Botanical Garden. Replicas of a goat, rooster, calf, butterflies, classical dancer, rabbit, moon, and heart symbol made of 60,000 flowers were displayed for the public. Likewise, replicas of a dragon, eagle, and crocodiles made of vegetables were also displayed. The MLA also inaugurated an archery competition at the government residential school at Kolli Hills. The students belonging to 18 schools performed cultural programmes as part of the festival.The Kolli Hills ghat road was announced as a one-way road by the district police for two days on Sunday and Monday. Vehicles heading to Kolli Hills are allowed to pass via Karavalli. Likewise, the vehicles heading from Kolli Hills are allowed to pass via Mullukurichi.
