Tragic house fire in Fisantekraal leaves two children dead as inquest opened.

Police have opened an inquest following a tragic house fire in Fisantekraal in the Western Cape that claimed the lives of two young children in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The fire broke out at a property in Kameeldrift Street, Greenville. After Fire and Rescue Services extinguished the blaze, the bodies of two children, aged four and 11, were discovered among the debris.

"Durbanville police registered an inquest for investigation following a fire," police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said.

He added that the circumstances surrounding the tragedy remain under investigation.
