Woman beaten and shot while defending baby during brazen daylight robbery.
A 35-year-old Gauteng woman was shot and assaulted with a firearm on Saturday while protecting her one-year-old child during an armed robbery as she sold eggs on Saturday afternoon.
According to Pretoria Volunteer Emergency Services (PVES), its members were dispatched to the scene at about 1.05pm, where they found the woman with facial injuries and a gunshot wound to her upper left leg after she was allegedly attacked at gunpoint.
PVES said the woman was assaulted with the firearm and shot during the robbery but fought back while shielding her toddler from harm.
"On arrival, a 35-year-old female was found with injuries after being robbed at gunpoint while selling eggs.
