Two tigers were found dead in the Nilgiris Forest Division since Thursday (July 30, 2026).In the first incident, an eight-year-old tigress was found dead at Pykara in Naduvattam forest range on Thursday evening. Based on the instruction of the Divisional Forest Officer and protocols established by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), a necropsy was conducted on Friday.Samples of the animal’s visceral organs were collected and sent for further analysis. However, preliminary investigations indicate that the death was due to natural causes, the officials said.In the second incident, a tiger’s decomposed carcass was found dead near the Marlimund Lake in the Udhagai South Forest Range.
