A tigress aged around 12 years was found dead in the Gundla Brahmeswaram (GBM) range of the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR).The carcass was found by field staff on July 12. In accordance to the Standard Operating Procedure of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) a post-mortem was conducted on July 13 by a committee comprising of C. Chaitanya Kumar Reddy, deputy director Project Tiger, Nandyal, forest range officer of Gundla Brahmeswaram, forest veterinary officers, representatives of NCTA, forest section officer and forest beat officer.Mr. Udaideep said that during inspection all body parts including canines and claws, were found intact. “We found no signs of poaching or removal of body parts. Biological samples were collected and sent for detailed laboratory examination as per protocol,” he said.According to the preliminary findings, officials said that tigress is suspected to have died due to old age.
