Tiara Kisten, a Grade 12 learner at Newhaven Secondary School, is balancing the demands of Matric while serving at the Saiva Sithandha Kazhagam Chatsworth Branch. This Women's Month, she hopes to inspire more young women to lead with faith, discipline and purpose.
With Matric textbooks spread across her desk and trial examinations fast approaching, Chatsworth teenager Tiara Kisten's evenings do not end when the studying stops.
Instead, the Grade 12 learner at Newhaven Secondary School sets aside her revision notes to prepare devotional hymns before joining fellow devotees at the Saiva Sithandha Kazhagam Chatsworth Branch, where she serves her faith community.
This balancing act has become the foundation of a journey she hopes will inspire other young women as South Africa celebrates Women's Month throughout August.
While many matriculants are focused solely on final school examinations, Kisten has spent the past two years serving as a service facilitator with the Saiva Sithandha Kazhagam of South Africa. Alongside her ambition of studying law after school, she is equally committed to preserving her spiritual heritage and encouraging more young people to embrace faith, discipline, and community service.
