ECHAGUE, Isabela — House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III vowed to sustain transparency reforms enacted by the chamber during last year’s budget talks, saying lawmakers would ensure the 2027 spending plan will be accountable and properly implemented.
He said the 318-member chamber has yet to discuss transparency reforms in detail, but outlined the House would impose “more important security measures” to ensure proposed spending for next year is properly accounted for. He did not elaborate.
“We haven’t talked about it yet, but we have seen that it is good… that there are reforms… that there is more transparency. I think we will implement more important security measures to make sure that what we will pass for 2027 is proper,” he told a media briefing in mixed English and Filipino.
Last year’s budget deliberations saw changes after sweeping reforms were introduced aimed at boosting budget transparency, following a controversy over alleged insertions in previous spending plans.
