An incident involving Course of Freedom party leader Zoe Konstantopoulou and a journalist, Vasiliki Polyzou, caused a stir in Parliament on Thursday afternoon, with Konstantopoulou calling police to arrest Polyzou on the grounds that she was a member of a criminal organization and not a journalist.
According to reports, Konstantopoulou followed Polyzou into the Parliament police canteen, filmed her with her mobile phone and questioned her right to be in the area.
Konstantopoulou reportedly called police and Parliament security, claiming the journalist had no right to access the space, which is for police only.
A police patrol took Polyzou to Syntagma police station to verify her identity after she was unable to present identification documents.
Polyzou accused Konstantopoulou of attempting to have her arrested and said she would file a complaint alleging unlawful obstruction and illegal filming. Konstantopoulou, meanwhile, said she had reported Polyzou as part of a wider complaint alleging criminal activity and raised concerns about her presence in the police canteen.
