Presentation
A 51-year-old woman visited her doctor for asymptomatic hair loss on her scalp and eyebrows that she first noticed approximately 5 months prior. On dermatologic examination, a band of scarring alopecia was seen at the anterior scalp line with few remaining hairs in scarred areas (the “lonely hair” sign). There was also perifollicular scale and some erythema on the scalp posterior to this band.
