Cabinet has approved extending the validity of South Africa's driving licences from five to 10 years.
Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni announced the decision during a media briefing on Thursday following the post-Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“Cabinet approved the extension of the validity period of driving licences for Codes A, A1, B and EB from five to 10 years.”
She said the 10-year renewal period will apply only to light motor vehicles.
