FIFA just put a price tag on itself. Or rather, on a shiny new commercial subsidiary called FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), which the global football governing body unveiled on July 28 with a projected valuation of $20 billion.

The plan is straightforward in concept, if ambitious in scope: bundle all of FIFA’s revenue-generating operations into one entity, then sell minority stakes to private investors. Up to 20% of the enterprise could be on the block, which at that valuation would translate to roughly $4.2 billion in fresh capital.

What FFE actually is

Think of FFE as FIFA’s commercial arm getting its own corporate structure. Broadcast rights, sponsorships, ticketing, licensing, and event operations, particularly for the World Cup, would all sit under this new entity.

The initiative was developed with help from JPMorgan and Greg Maffei, the commercial strategist who previously led Liberty Media.
