South Africa's electronic music scene will take centre stage at the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32), where five of the country's biggest dance music stars are competing for the coveted Best Dance Album award.
The nominees – MaWhoo for "Amazwi Okubonga", MÖRDA for "Asante III", Da Capo for "Indigo Child II: Love & Frequency", Dlala Thukzin for "MAYVIS", and JAZZWRLD & Thukuthela for "The Most Wanted" – have each played a significant role in shaping the sound of South African dance music while building audiences both at home and abroad.
MaWhoo continues her meteoric rise
Singer-songwriter MaWhoo has become one of the country's most sought-after vocalists, earning widespread acclaim for her emotive blend of amapiano, Afro-house and soulful music. Known for chart-topping collaborations and a string of streaming successes, she further cemented her status as one of South Africa's leading female artists with her nominated album "Amazwi Okubonga".
