Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane will announce the new North West police commissioner, following Wednesday's appointment of Lieutenant-General Sizakhele William Dyantyi as Western Cape Provincial Commissioner.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is expected to announce the appointment of a new Provincial Commissioner for the North West as it continues appointing new provincial police commissioners across four provinces.
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane is expected to make the announcement in Mahikeng alongside North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi and MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Wessels Morweng.
The appointment will fill the vacancy left by the retirement of former North West Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Sello Kwena in December 2024 and bring to an end the acting tenure of Major General Dr Ryno Naidoo, who has overseen policing in the province since then.
The North West announcement follows Wednesday's appointment of Lieutenant-General Sizakhele Dyantyi as the new Western Cape Provincial Commissioner.
