Major General Luyanda Damoyi has been acting in the position since July 1.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) will announce the appointment of a new Provincial Commissioner for the Western Cape on Wednesday, marking the beginning of significant leadership changes across four provinces this week.
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane will reveal the new commissioner at the SAPS Provincial Headquarters in Cape Town, accompanied by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety Anroux Marais.
This appointment comes to fill the role vacated by Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, who retired at the end of June after a distinguished tenure as the province’s top law enforcement officer.
Major General Luyanda Damoyi has been acting in the position since July 1, after previously serving as the Western Cape’s Deputy Provincial Commissioner.
