A life remembered: Friends, family and cyclists unite to honour Van Dyk after devastating road tragedy.
The wheels of remembrance will turn this weekend as family, friends and members of the cycling community come together to honour the life of Wessel Van Dyk, a beloved father, friend and colleague whose death has left a deep void among those who knew him.
Van Dyk died after he was allegedly struck by a vehicle while cycling along Durban's beachfront route. It is alleged that the driver was travelling in the wrong direction and that alcohol may have been involved.
Those who knew and loved Van Dyk will gather for a memorial ride in his honour, celebrating the life of a man remembered for his kindness, humility and the respect he showed others.
The memorial ride will take place on Saturday, with cyclists gathering at Suncoast Casino before setting off at 8am to pay tribute to him.
