South Africans have rallied behind kwaito star L'vovo Derrango, raising more than R280 000 after his emotional account of surviving a stroke, financial hardship and his ongoing recovery went viral.

An outpouring of public support has seen donations exceed R280 000 for kwaito artist Thokozani "L'vovo Derrango" Ndlovu after his emotional account of surviving a stroke and the financial hardships that followed touched the hearts of South Africans.

The veteran musician recently opened up during an interview on Gagasi FM with legendary radio presenter Linda "Mr Magic" Sibiya, where he reflected on the life-changing stroke he suffered in 2022.

L'vovo collapsed while performing at an event in Ndwedwe, north of Durban, after experiencing a severe headache earlier that day.

"I think I performed three songs, and then I felt dizzy. After that, I couldn't feel my left leg. It was like my foot wasn't there," he recalled.
