The district administration has declared August 3 (Monday) a local holiday for all government offices and educational institutions in the district to mark the memorial day of freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai.A release from Collector S. Kandasamy said examinations already scheduled in schools and colleges would be held as planned and would not be affected by the holiday. To compensate for the holiday, August 22 (Saturday) has been declared a working day for all government offices and educational institutions in the district. The Collector clarified that the holiday has not been declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and therefore banks will function as usual on August 3.
