MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has confiscated almost P13 million worth of fake skincare and cosmetic products carrying the brands of four well-known companies, which were being sold in the stores of Binondo and Divisoria in the City of Manila.
In an interview with reporters on Wednesday, NBI spokesperson Palmer Mallari said the law firms representing the four brands of lotion, body wash, shampoo, and bar soap filed a complaint with the bureau after receiving information that counterfeit versions of their products were allegedly being sold in markets at lower prices.
“Although we will not mention the brand owners now, in order to protect them, these are really well-known products. They are really used and they have developed their reputation in the market for a long time. That’s why they have developed their loyal customers,” Mallari, speaking Filipino, told reporters.
