There is a conversation happening around creativity that often gets reduced to a simple question: "Why don't you just do it?" But for many artists, the reality is far more complicated.
Cape Town rapper YoungstaCPT recently sat down with George Avakian, where he spoke about the growing perception that anyone can simply pick up a microphone, start a podcast or become a rapper overnight.
"Not everybody deserves a podcast mic. Not everybody has to go and stand in a booth and try and be a rapper," he said.
YoungstaCPT explained that creative spaces are sometimes viewed as an easy way out or an escape route, but behind every successful artist is a level of dedication, discipline and years of work that often goes unseen.
