Innovative delivery models: How youth can play a pivotal role in reshaping the economic landscape of KZN.
At Tuesday’s KwaZulu-Natal spaza shop economy round table, major private sector partners, including Uber South Africa, Shoprite, and Takealot joined provincial government leaders to present a strategy to combat youth unemployment through the first and last-mile delivery sector.
The private sector made presentations on their initiatives to support the spaza shops, townships and rural economies at the round table hosted by KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli and Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) MEC Reverend Musa Zondi in Durban on Tuesday.
The Shoprite Group’s Maude Modise said they wrote to the EDTEA head of department through the Durban Business Chamber, and like Uber and Takealot, they are trying to establish how they can better partner with the department.
