Chief Sergeant Dmytro Zhuk on How the CAESAR Self-Propelled Howitzer Brings "Apocalypse" to the Enemy
Dmytro "Heri" Zhuk serves with the 148th Separate Zhytomyr Artillery Brigade within the AFU Air Assault Forces. Today, the brigade is regarded as one of Ukraine's most effective artillery formations and an elite unit within the country's Defense Forces.
War has defined much of his young adulthood. At just 23, the chief sergeant at an artillery platoon commands a CAESAR self-propelled howitzer, whose precision fire has repeatedly decimated Russian troops and equipment.
During a brief break between combat missions, Dmytro spoke with an Ukrinform correspondent about the capabilities of the French-made CAESAR, the high-value targets his crew prioritizes, and what keeps him motivated after years on the front line.
Originally from Ukraine's Zhytomyr region, Heri trained as a mobile crane operator after finishing school. He never had the opportunity to work in the profession.
