320 families still in tents as Sultan Kudarat floods recede

KORONADAL CITY — Around 320 families remained in makeshift tents in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, on Tuesday, days after widespread flooding triggered by continuous rains forced thousands to flee their homes.

Sherwin de Guzman, head of the Lambayong Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), said about 2,500 families from four barangays were evacuated at the height of the flooding, which began nearly five days ago.

The hardest-hit areas were Barangay Caridad, which experienced the worst flooding, as well as the villages of Pinguiaman, Tinumigues and Zeneben.De Guzman said most evacuees have already returned home as floodwaters gradually receded.
