MANILA, Philippines — A truck driver was taken into police custody in Caloocan City for allegedly running over a patrolman on his way home from duty during the State of the Nation Address (Sona), the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the PNP identified the late patrolman as Allan Chris Heredero, 33, an officer of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Mobile Force Battalion Administrative Holding Unit.
“The truck driver is now under the custody of the Caloocan City Police and is expected to face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in the statement.
“The PNP has ordered a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he added.
