Saudi Defense Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki categorized the drone strikes as acts of terrorism, directly attributing them to Iran-backed groups launching from Iraqi soil.
Separately, Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for drone strikes targeting Saudi crude oil transportation infrastructure, specifically along the East-West pipeline. The Houthis framed their attacks as retaliation for alleged Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni territory.
Iraq’s government responded by ordering an investigation into whether its territory was being used as a launchpad for attacks on Saudi infrastructure.
