TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado called for stronger national government support for the tourism industry, saying he had hoped President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would announce more concrete programs to boost tourist arrivals during his 2026 State of the Nation Address (Sona).
In his reaction to the President’s fifth Sona, Aumentado said that tourism remains one of the country’s strongest economic drivers, particularly for destinations like Bohol, and deserves greater attention amid global uncertainties.
“I only wished that more concrete programs had been announced to strengthen the tourism sector and increase tourist arrivals, especially in the face of global uncertainties. Tourism remains one of the strongest drivers of local economies like Bohol, a popular destination in the country,” Aumentado said in a statement Tuesday.
