The organisation further warned that the dispute had already been linked to serious allegations of violent attacks and killings.
The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has urged Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and the Inspector-General of Police to take immediate action to prevent further bloodshed over the protracted land dispute involving Private Estate International (West Africa) Limited (PEIWA) and the Amechi Uwani and Obeagu Awkunanaw communities in the Enugu South Local Government Area.
In separate petitions addressed to Governor Mbah and the Inspector-General of Police, the organisation warned that the lingering dispute had become increasingly volatile, citing allegations of multiple killings, unresolved criminal investigations and fresh tensions over plans to restrict access to the affected communities through a privately managed digital registration system.
In the petitions signed by RULAAC executive director, Okechukwu Nwanguma, the group expressed concern that unless the government intervenes urgently, the combination of unresolved land litigation, delayed prosecution of homicide cases and attempts by private interests to control access through the M-Trans Access Point (Centenary Gate) could trigger another round of violence.
