A group of residents, including children, from Naganendal submitted a petition to district administration seeking bus services to their villages for the benefit of schoolchildren and farmers.A resident, A. Dhavamurugan (40) said that at least 40 students were studying in a school in nearby Mustakurichi, which is 4.5 km away from Naganendal.“Our children have to walk with bags for two km to reach the bus stop on Meenakshipuram - Mustakurichi road. Only if they reach the bus stop on time, they would catch the bus and reach the school on time. Otherwise, they will have to walk another 2.5 km,” he added.Similarly, another 15 students were studying in the Government Higher Secondary School in Kariyapatti. These students have to travel for 10 km.The villagers are predominantly involved in farming vegetables, like brinjal, ladies finger, onion, cucumber and paddy.“Our farmers have to struggle to take their produce to the bus stop for selling them at Kariyapatti daily,” he added. At least for the sake of the young children going to schools for their education, the district adminstration should immediately introduce a bus service from Naganendal.
