NVIDIA is investing in Safe Superintelligence (SSI), an AI startup created by Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s former chief scientist, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The chipmaker described the investment as “substantial” but did not reveal the amount.
The deal is part of a partnership that could provide SSI with greater access to NVIDIA’s computing infrastructure while giving NVIDIA another strategic relationship in the race to develop advanced AI systems.
Founded in June 2024, the secretive AI research company focuses exclusively on developing safe superintelligence, a term used to describe AI systems that could surpass human intelligence while remaining aligned with human interests.
Superintelligence is within reach.
