Former IDAC boss Advocate Andrea Johnson has conceded that MP Fadiel Adams should be dealt with for being in possession of Crime Intelligence documents.
Former head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson, told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Monday that MP Fadiel Adams should be charged for possession of crime intelligence information, whether classified or unclassified.
This was after it was pointed out to Johnson that Adams, in his Section 27 affidavit, stated that the information he shared with IDAC about alleged corruption within crime intelligence had personal details of Major General Nosipho Madondo, who was accused of not having a top secret clearance— was pushed under Adams’ door in Parliament. The Commission heard that this meant that the information was illegally obtained.
Co-commissioner Sesi Baloyi SC put it to Johnson that, “Your code of conduct says something about examining or satisfying yourself about whether evidence was lawfully obtained or material that is potentially going to be used as evidence was obtained lawfully or not... When you got this information about the vetting of Madondo, what were you told about how this information was obtained?"
