Colonel Brian Padayachee, a senior Investigator at the Investigative Directorate Against Corruption, testifies at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry about MP Fadiel Adams' criminal complaints against senior SAPS members.
The Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) instituted investigations into criminal dockets opened by MP Fadiel Adams in October 2024 against Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo and other senior officers, despite SAPS Legal Services concluding the information was too scanty and vague to support charges against the suspects.
This was heard at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Thursday during the testimony of IDAC senior investigator Brian Padayachee, who was grilled by commissioners over how the directorate handled Adams’ affidavit.
The affidavit alleged interference in criminal cases Adams had opened against Khumalo and other senior officers at the Cape Town and Orlando police stations.
Adams invoked Section 27 of the National Prosecuting Authority Act 32 of 1998 in his affidavit, asking IDAC to investigate complaints against senior SAPS members implicated in allegations of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
