IDAC senior investigator, Brian Padayachee, has admitted that the investigation into Lt-Gen. Dumisani Khumalo, originated from a complaint filed NCC leader, Fadiel Adams.
Madlanga Commission has raised questions about the criminal case against Crime Intel. head Lt-Gen. Dumisani Khumalo after Brian Padayachee, an IDAC investigator, admitted the probe was entertained after MP Fadiel Adam lodged a complaint.
Padayachee told the commission on Tuesday that the investigation began after National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader submitted a Section 27 referral alleging irregularities in the appointment of Dineo Mokwele to a senior technical post within SAPS.
Khumalo previously clarified at the commission that the unit was not looking for a traditional career cop but rather someone fit for the role.
He argued Mokwele was highly qualified in mechatronics and industrial engineering (skills she used as an engineer at BMW), which made her uniquely suited to handle covert technological operations.
