Real Madrid has reportedly reached an agreement to sign 19-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, capping off a transfer saga that, if the numbers hold up, would represent one of the most dramatic value multiplications in recent football history.
Diomande moved to Leipzig from CD Leganés for just €20 million in July 2025. Now, barely a year later, the reported transfer fee could land somewhere between €100 million and €120 million. That’s a 5x to 6x return in twelve months.
The deal structure and the bidding war
Real Madrid’s opening offer reportedly came in at approximately £85 million, which translates to roughly €76 million. Leipzig said no. The Spanish giants are now expected to push their bid north of €100 million, with some estimates placing the total package in the €115 million to €120 million range.
Diomande has reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Real Madrid, with a contract that would keep him at the Bernabéu through at least 2031. That’s a six-year commitment from a player who turned 19 last November.
