DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles shared some sad personal news with his fans last month08:15, 25 Jul 2026Popular presenter Nick Knowles is returning to live TV this weekend. This comes after the 63-year-old broadcaster announced that he would be stepping back from his TV duties due to a family emergency.Last month, Nick notably took some time off work after his wife, Katie, needed urgent surgery. The 36-year-old businesswoman was rushed to hospital when her cervix ruptured following a hysterectomy, just weeks after she married Nick in June 2025.She was later told that she needed another significant operation, leading Nick to decide to stay at home and look after her.Speaking to the Daily Mail's Richard Eden last month, Nick explained why he needed to "disappear" for a while. He said: "I've been looking after my wife a lot because she has been through it. She's had a lot of tough times. She's got another operation coming up."Now, Nick is set to return to our screens this weekend during the latest episode of Saturday Kitchen (July 25).Host Matt Tebbutt will also be joined by chefs Scott Hallsworth and Paul A Young, while drinks expert Helen McGinn pairs each dish with the perfect alcoholic beverage.Nick's return to TV comes after his wife, Katie, shared an update on Instagram following her surgery.Alongside several photos and videos of her recovery, Katie wrote: "The ovaries. The endo. The adhesions. The organs that had stuck together. The prolapses. The bits of my body that have caused me pain for nearly two decades. All gone!"She went on to praise her surgeon, Mr Raafat, who performed the five-and-a-half-hour procedure, saying: "I am so grateful."Content cannot be displayed without consentKatie continued: "Hopefully this is the last big recovery. Hopefully this is the start of life without that pain."I know this pain is short-lived. I know the scars, the stitches, the bleeding, the gas pain, the swelling, the injections, the cannulas, the bruises and all the awful hospital bits are temporary. But temporary doesn't mean easy. It is brutal."She concluded: "Endometriosis and adenomyosis have taken so much from me... I wish I could go back and tell younger me she wasn't weak. She wasn't making it up. She deserved better. So yes, I'm relieved and grateful. I really am. But I'm also heartbroken."Article continues belowNick later posted a video of himself singing to Katie in bed, alongside the caption: "Cheering my wife up in the morning after her surgery - she's been so brave."Saturday Kitchen airs weekly at 10am on BBC One
