Salaries for staff in Greece’s public healthcare system may still lag behind those in other European countries, but they have improved.
However, for the National Health System (ESY) to become an attractive career destination for doctors and nurses who are in demand both in Greece and abroad, higher pay alone is not enough. Working conditions also need to improve – conditions that are closely tied to the quality of care patients receive.
An exhausted workforce inevitably leads to poorer healthcare services.
