Edward Pearce, from Heathfield in East Sussex, was travelling to work when he suffered fatal injuries in a car crash.Edward, known to family and friends as Bunty, was driving in his white Volkswagen Caddy van on the A27 westbound near Pevensey. It was involved in a fatal collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter, just before 6.30am on Monday, July 13.Edward’s older brother William died from leukaemia in 2012, and after William’s diagnosis Edward – who was only four years old at the time – bravely signed up as a bone-marrow donor.In the wake of Edward’s death, his family has revealed that he donated his organs, helping seven people in urgent need of transplants."Even in passing, Edward's kindness and compassion have given others the precious gift of life, creating a legacy that will endure for generations," they said in a statement.The statement from Edward’s family continued: “Edward was a much-loved son, family member, and friend. He lived life with boundless energy.“His days were always filled with purpose, laughter, and adventure. He brought warmth, energy, and kindness to everyone around him, and had a remarkable ability to make people feel at ease.“While this loss is unimaginable for us, we take comfort in the love Edward shared throughout his life and the lasting impact he had on so many people.“Those who knew Edward were touched by his generous spirit, and it was impossible not to be drawn to his infectious smile and caring nature.”The family said that Edward was training to be a plumber and had hoped to work in Australia.They added: “During William’s illness, Edward selflessly became a bone marrow donor at the age of four for his big brother. It was a gift that reflected the depth of his love and compassion.“In keeping with his generous character, Edward became an organ donor. Through this selfless gift, he was able to donate six organs, helping to save the lives of seven people who were in urgent need of transplants.“Even in passing, Edward’s kindness and compassion have given others the precious gift of life, creating a legacy that will endure for generations.“Edward will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, the happiness he brought to others, and the extraordinary gifts he gave to those he never met.”Article continues belowSussex Police have said that a 31-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been bailed, pending further enquiries.Police are appealing for any motorists who passed the VW Caddy van which had broken down in the westbound carriageway to come forward, as well as anyone with dashcam footage in the area at the time. Anyone who was on or near the A27 who might have information about the incident is asked to report it to Sussex Police, quoting Operation Wickham.
