Tiruchi Corporation organised a special government services and welfare camp for sanitation workers and their families on Friday.Mayor M. Anbazhagan inaugurated the camp at a private marriage hall near Uyyakondan Thirumalai. Another camp was held at the Zone 2 office.The initiative was to ensure that the benefits of various State Government welfare schemes reach sanitation workers and their families effectively, while also creating awareness about government programmes, entitlements, and services available to them.More than 300 sanitation workers across Corporation Zones 2, 3, 4, and 5, along with their family members, benefited from the camp. Awareness sessions on social security rights and welfare schemes for sanitation workers involved in waste collection and septic tank cleaning were conducted.Stalls were set up by several government departments, including the Revenue Department, Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO), Labour Welfare Department, Health Department, Education Department, and Social Welfare Department, to provide information on welfare schemes and receive applications for government services.The Mayor directed officials to expedite the issuance of Welfare Board identity cards to all eligible sanitation workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits of various State Government welfare schemes without delay.
