The Corporation organised an entitlement camp here on Wednesday benefiting the conservancy workers and their family members.The Tamil Nadu Government, under the Sanitation Workers Development Scheme, is implementing various welfare, social security, livelihood, skill development and financial security initiatives for the sanitary workers and their family members. To ensure access to these entitlements for improving the socio-economic well-being, livelihood security and dignity of the sanitary workers, the special camp was organised.Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation Limited (TAHDCO) and Tamil Nadu Cleanliness Workers’ Welfare Board, Departments of Health and Family Welfare, Social Welfare, Women Empowerment, Municipal Administration, Water Supply, Finance, Labour Welfare, Revenue, Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency, financial institutions and other relevant agencies joined hands with the Corporation in organising this camp.The camp enabled the registration of sanitary workers under the national and State welfare schemes, facilitated access to all entitlements at one place and strengthened occupational safety and livelihood security.Permanent, contract, private and outsourced sanitary workers, workers engaged in sewer and septic tank maintenance, drain cleaning workers, public and community toilet maintenance workers and workers involved in operation and maintenance of sewerage treatment plants participated in the camp held on Wednesday.Their attendance in the camp was treated as ‘On duty’ and hence wages were given to them.The sanitary workers who attended this camp were assisted in completing their applications, given documentation support and ensured timely linkage of eligible persons and their family members with available entitlements.District Collector Anand Mohan and Corporation Commissioner Monika Rana and senior officials of the urban civic body were present.
