Barebones Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship returns tomorrow with its ninth event since its inception and is set to deliver an absolutely electric fight card.
Taking place at the Sunningdale Sports Complex in Milnerton, 38 of Africa's rising amateur MMA stars will showcase their skills, determination and heart inside the BMC cage as they look to build their careers or simply develop character through one of the toughest sports in the world. Mixed martial arts is a sport that forces athletes to bare it all, leaving nowhere to hide but to stand up for themselves, apply what they have learned in training and dig deep to overcome both mental and physical adversity.
The 19-fight card will see the return of BMC Heavyweight champion and IMMAF standout Hervé Zeng of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who fights out of CDS MMA in Namibia. Zeng will defend his title against South Africa's Nico Smook of SASL.
The co-main event will feature two athletes seeking redemption: Namibia's two-time IMMAF Africa Flyweight champion Damien Muller and South Africa's Kiran Jeffery. Both suffered defeats to current BMC Bantamweight champion Umar Edwards at BMC 7 and BMC 8 respectively earlier this year.
