The National Housing Policy Strategy 2026-2035 was approved by the Government Council for Housing Policy during its meeting on Thursday, setting a 10-year plan for the comprehensive management of Greece’s housing crisis.
This national plan comprises Greece’s roadmap for a transition from piecemeal intervention to a consistent, organized and viable planning system.
It includes a detailed presentation of 50 specific measures, with a total budget of €6.5 billion.
Of these measures, 36 are already included in the unified digital platform for housing policy, while 14 of them are new proposed interventions.
As the committee said, the government measures fall under three key strategic pillars: a rise in the number of houses available in the market; the targeted support of households and social groups that face acute housing problems; and the creation of permanent institutions to monitor, plan and implement housing policy.
